"We are delighted that the Ciste Spreagtha support fund with Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia will be open again in 2023. The fund will assist a range of groups in organising Irish language events during the festival as well as later in the year. We look forward to seeing the Irish language and Gaeltacht community taking part in events, and we are excited to see those that haven’t had a chance to take part previously getting involved. We’d like to thank the Minister of State and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media for funding the Ciste Spreagtha again this year."
Minister of State for the Gaeltacht, Patrick O’Donovan TD, said:
“I am delighted that my Department has been able to support the Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia support fund again this year. This project is a fantastic way to increase opportunities to use the Irish language across communities and to celebrate the language at a local level.”
Orlaith Nic Ghearailt, Manager, Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia, commented at today’s launch in An Caisleán Nua:
“The new Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia Support Fund is an incredibly important development in the ongoing work to promote the Irish language and raise awareness of the language. This new Ciste Spreagtha will support groups right across Ireland in organising social events aimed at people who wish to use the language, learn the language and come together through the language. The Support fund will increase opportunities for groups to organise events both during and after Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia this year, creating more and more opportunities for communities to access local Irish language events.”
