The National Collection
The National Collection has been organised by Conradh na Gaeilge on St. Patrick's Day for over 100 years now. It is a fantastic opportunity to collect money for the local branch or Irish language group, as well as providing a chance to meet other Irish speakers in the area and talk to them about Irish language events happening locally.
Conradh na Gaeilge organises collection permits throughout the country, as well as providing buckets, stickers and posters to help on the day. Local groups who collect can keep some of the collected money to help with events organised and work carried out in the area, some of the money also goes to Conradh na Gaeilge for work carried out nationally.
The increase in the National Collection in the last few years has helped the organisation to contact more schools and young people in particular about the Irish language, to advocate for the language when dealing with politicians and businesses, to carry out more research and campaigns, and to give further support to the promotion of the Irish language in Ireland and abroad.
If you are interested in organising a collection in your own area for St. Patrick's Day 2023, please contact us at the details below.
