Féile Peile na nGael: Comórtas Seachtar an Taobh will be held at Lees Road Sports Centre in Ennis, County Clare at 2.00pm on Saturday, the 31st of March 2012. It will include a men's and women's competition.
A Trophy and a €500 voucher will be awarded to the winning team in the men's competition and there will also be a trophy and a voucher for the women's! The day will start at 2 and matches will last 20 minutes, with the final being held at 5. Teams from GAA or other sports cubs are particularly welcome as are other groups, and every standard is welcome.
Julian De Spáinn, General Secretary of Conradh na Gaeilge said: "It's shaping up to be a fantastic competition that will take place during our Ard-Fheis weekend, a great opportunity for clubs to use Irish and to further attract others to playing through Irish, and also it will add greatly to our Ard-Fheis. I'm not sure if I'll get the boots out myself but you never know!"
Eoghan Ó Murchadha, Na Gaeil Óga's Public Relations Officer and member of Conradh na Gaeilge said: "We are really looking forward to the competition now, and hope to have teams from the locality and nationwide playing. We have some great prizes lined up and hopefully it will inspire other clubs to use more Irish and also inspire the founding of clubs similar to Na Gaeil Óga around the country!"
To register a team costs €150 (seven players and one or two subs) and this covers the competition itself as well as dinner and a céilí in the Auburn Lodge Hotel that evening. Accommodation is available in the hotel itself which has great deals for the weekend and also in hostels.
