Aisling? – a cultural extravaganza of newly commissioned music, song, dance and literature from Ireland’s finest Gaeltacht artists – will be held in the Olympia Theatre in Dublin on Friday 28 September as part of Bliain na Gaeilge 2018. It will then be going on tour around the country (dates detailed below).
Produced and directed by Darach Mac Con Iomaire, Aisling? brings it’s audience on a journey which allows them to celebrate and reflect on the story of the Gaeltacht over the last 100 years through music, poetry, dance and visual art.
Presented by Ealaín na Gaeltacht, Aisling? is an exceptional production of newly-composed work by comtemporary Gaeltacht artists – musicians, poets, authors, visual artists and compoers, including the likes of Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh and Méabh Ní Bheaglaíoch.
There’s more to Aisling? than a mere night of music and art – this display with awaken and excite a community spirit in it’s audience who as a creative connection to the artful honesty that gave inspiration to the revolutionary leaders of 1916. Aisling? is described as a cultural display that blows the conventional concert format away. Instead, Aisling? invites it’s audience to reconnect with their roots, with their heritage and with the truth that there is a community within the Irish language, with amazing original music and art from talented Gaeltacht artists.
