Lá na gCiorcal takes place across the country today as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia 2024

Irish language events in every country of Ireland today to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia

Today, 13 March 2024, Lá na gCiorcal takes place as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia, the largest Irish festival in the world. Irish language events are being held in all thirty-two counties of Ireland as part of Lá na gCiorcal 2024, with groups across the island taking part and giving people an opportunity to use their Irish at events in their communities.

Conchubhair Mac Lochlainn, Cathaoirleach of Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia, commented:

"Lá na gCiorcal was held for the first time last year to highlight all of the fantastic events that community groups organise all over the country throughout the year. This year, we are delighted to partner with Down Syndrome Ireland and we look forward to welcoming people to events in their communities."

Elizabeth Fox, Adult Education Officer, Down Syndrome Ireland, said:

“Down Syndrome Ireland is delighted to be involved, for the first time, in Seachtain na Gaeilge. We’re very grateful to Conradh na Gaeilge for their support in collaborating with us to set up our very first Ciorcal Cómhrá, and we look forward to creating more opportunities for our members to express and develop their love for the Irish language.”

Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia runs until 17 March 2024, with Irish language events taking place throughout Ireland and around the world. #SnaG24 events can be explored at PEIG.ie. Further information at snag.ie.

Seachtain na Gaeilge, first held in 1902, is organised by Conradh na Gaeilge with the support of Foras na Gaeilge and Energia.
