App Úrnua Raidió Rí-Rá Ar iTunes!

The new and improved Raidió Rí-Rá application is available for free from www.rrr.ie/iphone/ and the Irish-language chartstation wants it to top the iTunes charts!

Thousands of people have downloaded Raidió Rí-Rá's iPhone application for free from iTunes since its launch at the beginning of 2010, and now listeners can tune into the Irish-language chartstation through their iPhones at any time of night or day throughout the year with the newly updated app.

Traic Ó Braonáin, Chairperson of Raidió Rí-Rá said: "The Raidió Rí-Rá app has been in high demand since day one, whereby people can listen to all the hottest music from the charts being presented through Irish 24/7. Now listeners can check out Raidió Rí-Rá's website at www.rrr.ie, make friends with us on Facebook, and get the latest news via the RSS feed on the newest version of the app, available at www.rrr.ie/iphone/ ."

Raidió Rí-Rá is the only station presenting music from the charts completely through Irish all year around, online at www.rrr.ie, where programmes aimed at young people are broadcast by young people. The chartstation hopes to top the iTunes download chart with the new updated version of the Raidió Rí-Rá application this week.

Aodhán Ó Deá, a presenter with Raidió Rí-Rá said: "Raidió Rí-Rá has gone from strength to strength in recent months, and we wanted to develop our iPhone application to demonstrate that to people tuning in on their smartphones. With this latest update, we are asking listeners to tell their friends that Raidió Rí-Rá has a great music and Irish-language application available to them at absolutely no cost, and to encourage them to download it for free from www.rrr.ie/iphone/ today."

In addition to broadcasting online all year around, Raidió Rí-Rá has gone live on FM in March of each year since 2009, and it has been the official station of the international Irish-language festival, Seachtain na Gaeilge, for three years running now. Over a million people had access to Raidió Rí-Rá while the station was broadcasting to Irish cities across the country throughout March 2011.

The temporary broadcast during the month of March each year is the first step towards establishing a full-time, all-Irish youth radio station on the national FM system, according to Traic Ó Braonáin, and Raidió Rí-Rá is always looking for new ways in which people can listen to the Irish-language chartstation whenever and wherever they want, like they can with the new iPhone application.

Raidió Rí-Rá are developing an Android application at the moment, the chartstation is considering the possibilities of going on the DAB system and are also moving towards the medium of digital television in the future. Raidió Rí-Rá released Albam Rí-Rá in conjunction with The Irish Daily Star during the live broadcast in March 2011 as well, an Irish-language music album with songs from the charts translated to Irish by the likes of The Rubberbandits, The Coronas, Fox Avenue and others.
