Seachtain na Gaeilge to be launched in Belfast for the first time ever

Seachtain na Gaeilge will be kick-started in Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiach, Belfast on Saturday February 28th. This is the first time ever the language will be launched in this beautiful city and Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure Carál Ní Chuilín will do the honours. Events will kick off at 11am with a puppet show from Fibín based on the TG4 show Saol faoi Shráid. Live music will be provided by Clann Mhic Ruairí in the Gallery while children’s entertainers will do face painting, balloon animals, workshops and much more. Refreshments will be served for those who need to catch their breath after all the excitement!

This event launches a packed 17 day programme of exciting and entertaining events. Seachtain na Gaeilge is aimed at everyone, native speakers and those who only have a passing interest in the language. You can find events in your area on the Seachtain na Gaeilge website www.snag.ie

Cóilín Ó Cearbhaill, President of Conradh na Gaeilge said:  “I can’t believe that the launch of Seachtain na Gaeilge 2015 is only nine days away. The team are hugely excited and really looking forward to the festival. The aip will be ready to launch next week and with over 450 events registered on the website there is something for everyone to attend.”

Sinéad Ní Dhomhnaill, Acting Manager of Seachtain na Gaeilge said: “It looks like we are going to have a great time at the launch of Seachtain na Gaeilge in Belfast, and I can’t wait to meet with all the families who will celebrate with us in the Cultúrlann on the 28th of February. This is only the start of the festival and I am hoping to attend as many events as I can during Seachtain na Gaeilge. A chairde Gaeil, bígí linn!”
