Course: Cumarsáid & Cruinneas, Tuesday (Evening, On-Line)

‘Cumarsáid & Cruinneas’ is a new course for those who have an interest in practicing grammar whilst developing their communication skills. This course shall focus on those who are comfortable with spoken Irish but may not be as comfortable with grammatical concepts. The aim of this course is to demystify grammar whilst practicing in an enjoyable atmosphere.

10-week course, 1 class per week. The course is pitched at a B2 standard, the target learner for this group is someone who is comfortable speaking Irish but would like more practice with grammar. 

Learning Aims:

• To bring the class’ attention to the foundation of Irish, specifically the copula
• To encourage the class to take ownership of their knowledge of grammar and to begin the learning journey
• To demonstrate that Irish grammar is not a mystery 
• To achieve these aims in an enjoyable, interactive way

Course Approach:

• The course will be held over Zoom, one and a half hours per week
  
  
• Two thirds communication
  Listening exercises: Different dialects
  Speaking exercises: Current affairs, work in groups or partners in ‘Breakout Rooms’
  Parts of the TEG B2 syllabus shall be used
  
  
• One third grammar
  Written exercises: Grammar exercises / language use as a group
  Reading comprehension and phonology of Irish, dictogloss
  Translation practice, EN - GA, contrasting English and Irish

This course will run alongside Summer Term with regards times, dates and the course participants shall have the same opportunities as the normal classes i.e conversation groups, newsletters etc. There will be a unique certificate awarded as part of this course however. 

To ensure that this course is run to the highest standard, someone from the Head Office will be in touch via phone after each candidate registers. If it happens the this course is not deemed suitable for the candidate, a choice of other classes will be posed to the candidate.
